I’ve been neglectful of my blogging duties the last week or so since I’ve been trying to make sure I get my writing done. So far that seems to be going well. I took a few days off, but now I’m back at it. The third book is at just about 30k words, so that makes me happy. Just 10k more and I’ll have an actual novel. I still would like to have it done by the end of the year, even if I don’t release it then. I still shake my head in disbelief at the fact that I’m writing my THIRD book. Three years ago I would have laughed at the idea of writing one, much less three.
In a couple months I will also be attending my first convention as a writer. I’m gonna be at Arisia 2013 in January for the whole weekend. I won’t be at the dealers table or anything but i will be shmoozing with the crowd and hopefully throwing the best party there. I’m tentatively calling it After the Storm the Party! If you don’t know what Arisia is and live in the Boston/new England area you can check it out here http://2013.arisia.org/ . I’ve been to quite a few of these convention in the past during my stint in a Rocky Horror Picture Show cast and they’re a lot of fun! There also tends to be a lot of people interested in the post apocalyptic kind of stuff I write in attendance so I’m hoping it will get my name out there a bit. If you’re interested tickets run around $50 for the whole weekend until December, then I think they go up a bit.
Also been toying with the idea of getting a REAL website and not just the blog and FB ones. Any thoughts on that, from the folks out there that may read this, are greatly appreciated. It doesn’t seem like it would be all that expensive , but at the same time I dunno how much traffic I’d get. Then again it’d probably be good to have in case my books start selling better.
Which leads me to my next bullet point. Sales have been up from the summer and seem to be pretty steady, which is good, but I saw some numbers recently from some other folks selling on Amazon and man do I wish I had THOSE numbers. So, here’s my quandary, How do I better market myself on not a lot of money. I will gladly do interviews if anyone would like me to or guest blogs even. No one has asked me to do any yet but I am putting it out there. Also, I would LOVE some reviews (hopefully good ones!) so, if any of you semi pro or professional reviewers out there would like to review my book I can gladly arrange a free copy if you need one. I do ask that if you are going to review it that you run it by me first. Good reviews are great but If you hate it I’d prefer to know before I see it in print is all, so that I can start the heavy drinking before it hits. 🙂
I guess my last point would be to put it out there for the general public. I could use a little favor fromn all of you out there in the blogosphere and beyond. If you check out my stuff regularly, and enjoy it, please do me a solid and tell all your friends, share it on FB, RT it on twitter or even just run up and down the street screaming out the web address! If you’re gonna do that last one please make sure you’re naked to make sure you get all the attention you can! Word of mouth seems to be my best marketing tool lately and I’d love for your help. I’ve so enjoyed being a writer for the last year or so and I want to keep doing it for a long time to come, and if I can keep sale up or going up then I can do just that, so any and all help is truly appreciated.
